Sports Rehab in Phoenix

Rehab that ends with a test rather than a feeling: objective standards, set at your evaluation, that you clear side to side and under load.

What is sports rehab in Phoenix?

Sports rehab has a stricter finish line. Comfort arrives weeks before the tissue is ready for a sprint, a cut or a full training week, so the plan is built backward from your sport and ends with tests.

The tests: limb symmetry in hop and jump testing, side-to-side strength, control at speed, and tolerance for your season’s volume. You see your numbers at every retest.

Dr. Nick Hadinger, a former Division I swimmer who raced at the 2012 US Olympic Trials, is a certified USA Weightlifting coach and USA Swimming Sports Medicine Network member who travels with Team USA athletes and has worked NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving National Championships. Dr. Ryan Spencer is a board-certified Orthopedic Specialist and Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt; Dr. Lauren Mueller is TPI certified for golf performance.

What does a sports rehab session look like?

The 60-minute evaluation covers your sport as well as your injury: position, season phase, training week and target date. We measure range, side-to-side strength and how the painful movement breaks down under load, and you leave knowing your standards and timeline.

Later visits move from treatment and controlled loading to barbell, box and open space, with retests at each phase change. Bring your sport shoes and any club or racket.

Who this is for, and who it isn’t.

Good fit

  • You are post-operative and want objective clearance testing.
  • You are in season and need to train around an injury.
  • You have never felt the same on that side since a previous injury.
  • Your sport has a demand (overhead, cutting, rotational or maximal load) general rehab missed.

Not the right first stop

  • A medical emergency. A suspected fracture, dislocated joint, worsening head injury or chest pain belongs in an emergency room.
  • An athlete who wants a clearance letter without the testing. We will not sign off on a number nobody measured.

Phase I
Pain

Settle the tissue without shutting you down.

Total rest costs an athlete more than it saves. We treat from the first visit and keep you training what you safely can.

Phase II
Prime

Restore the range your sport actually needs.

A swimmer needs overhead rotation, a lifter ankles and hips, a golfer a mid-back that turns. We open what limits your sport’s positions.

Phase III
Perform

Rebuild strength and then speed.

Heavy and slow first, then fast, then reactive and unplanned. You clear each stage’s number before the next.

Phase IV
Prevent

Pass the test, then keep the qualities.

Cleared means you passed your retests. Then an in-season program protects what you rebuilt.

Endpoint: defined at evaluation reviewed with you, every phase

Start with the evaluation that sets the standards you have to clear.

Put it in writing.

Five short questions. A real person calls you back, usually within two business hours, with times that fit your week.

The people who end up filling this out are rarely in the worst pain of their life. They’re just done working around it, done picking the errand that doesn’t require the stairs. If that’s the stage you’re at, this is the part where you stop researching and start.
